Weekend Wear Part Deux...

Sorry for the delay in today's post!

A lady in the fashion of life sometimes needs to work on her time management...

Dinner date at Lucia's...I never thought the day would come.  Lucia's in an establishment here in Minneapolis, located in the heart of the very hip Uptown neighborhood.  I have walked past it many a times dreaming of meal to be eaten there.  I was just always so intimidated!

Their menu changes everyday, I could not figure out which door I was supposed to go into, and I was scared to see what the prices would be printed on that parchment paper.  I always thought Lucia's was just to good for me.

Alas making plans with a friend they gave me the pick three option, I love this game.  They provide three choices for a restaurant and I pick one to go to.  And behold this time Lucia's was on the list.  Of course knowing I would need something fun to blog about I went for it.  Not disappointed either, I will be back, I have conquered to Lucia's!

I love coming to you on Mondays with the weekend photog moments!  It's always fun to relive the excitement Friday and Saturday have brought.  Okay, I got a couple of good ones for you.  I will reveal my fav first...you'll have to tune tomorrow for the other.

This outfit was a living example of inspiration.  As you know, because I talk about it all the time, I am a pinner on Pinterest.  Earlier this month I referenced it again as a place to find encouragement and inspiration for your fashion needs.

Mad Hatter...

I swear I actually wear hats!  I think more of you should too!

I love it for the days when the hair is not being my friend and wearing a baseball cap just won't do.  Now I know the hat can be intimidating, so you really need a support network.  I get it, you need a second opinion, a partner in crime, so recruit some girlfriends.

A lady in the fashion life lead a revolution...even in hats.

Take Another Piece of My Heart...

We all are looking for something to do on the weekends that throws into life.  It's always great to have plans to look forward to on a Saturday night.  I love to spend the week thinking about what I might wear!  I know it sounds silly but give it a try.  Your week days are filled with errands, work, gym, blah blah blah...

When you can break away and spend 5 minutes a day dreaming about something creative that excites you such as fashion, see the difference it can make on your out look for the days ahead.  For some it could be a new book you are going read, a craft you are going to start, movie to see, etc.  Small pleasures add up to a big difference.

A lady in the fashion of life can the look above the ruts and see the sun.

I went to the Janis Joplin birthday tribute at the Cabooze this weekend.  It was created and curated by my friend Jill who is an amazing singer and artist!  Here's a look at what she did...

Resolution Road...#3

This is short and sweet!  Get inspiration and be inspired.  Sometimes I think we put to much pressure on our selves to be so individualistic that we don't even look around for things to mimic that we like.  Fashion comes from everyone, everywhere, and everything.

I rarely style my self from and image that I created in my own head.  It has always started from something else or someone else.  Don't think you are being copy cat or unoriginal when do you this.  Your personality and taste comes through your interpretation of the inspiration.

So have at it...

Here are some of the places I go and blogs I follow to get me motivated..

Resolution Road...#2

This one is quick but not easy.  Many clients come in complaining that they are dressing to drab, or that they want a "fun" outfit.  Maybe something to go out to dinner in.  Great, I love to help.  So I begin showing them cute silk blouses, maybe a lace top, or blazer of sorts....

"Dry clean only!  I can't take care of that!  I need something machine washable!"  (And imagine it being said in a whinny high pitch voice)

Ladies Ladies Ladies, get with it.  If you want something special and fun and new and different it is going to have to be taken care of differently!  Put your big girl pants on and buy something grown up, it might me be dry clean only...

Now let me provide some comfort here.  Let's think about this.  Dry clean garments typical aren't worn every week, or even every month.  So, the need to clean from wear isn't going to happen often.  Next, they are silk or wool most often.  They don't retain odor, really you are only going to have to spot clean them.  And remember you are a big girl and probably won't spill on it much.  Lastly, most of my dry clean items I can get away with washing them in the delicate cycle, and if you have a front load washer this is even more possible.

So this resolution, you are grown up, you can take of grown up clothes.

A lady in the fashion life doesn't let a little work stop her trend!

New Year, New You, New Blog...#1

As I have been absent from the blog posting this past week, my time has been spent thinking about how you, me and the blog can make the best of our fashionable lives in this new year!  This week tune in for what I think should be the top fashionable resolutions we all can make for 2012.

So here's number 1...

If you are sick and tired of being sick and tired just do something,  anything, it doesn't matter what, just make some change.  I lived this out last week when I was over the blog looking so bland!  I just couldn't take it anymore so I committed to making a change, even if it's not one that I am going to keep.

A way to boost the action is to enlist a partner in crime.  I did this with my friend Ben.  He is a fellow blogger, here it is...Two Birds One Scone.  I asked him to log in and putz around with some design ideas and let me know what he thinks.  We put on the calender last week to meet for 1 hour to see what we could come up with.  And what you are enjoying is the result!  Now, don't get me wrong there are still some things I want to add, subtract, or change but at least I made a start.  All it took was one phone call and 1 hour.  Really, I think you have the time for that.

So if you can't stand your hair anymore, schedule a cut.  If you are sick of wearing clothes with no color, just by one red scarf to start.  If you are fed up with not accessorizing, go by one necklace.  If you are done wearing frumpy clothes go buy a pair of straight fitting jeans or fitted blouse.  It doesn't matter if you are going to like it in 2 months or even 2 days.  It's all about starting somewhere and figuring out where you are going to go.  What you do like, don't like, or don't care about gets revealed on the journey.

You might continue to see the blog change, who knows!  Who cares!  Let's just start figuring our selves out.

A lady in the fashion of life is intentional and makes a change!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
